OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 17, 2015) – Oklahoma Heart Hospital (OHH) was named one of the nation’s 50 top cardiovascular hospitals this month by Truven Health Analytics for achieving superior clinical outcomes.
In its 17th year, the Truven study identifies the nation's best providers of cardiovascular care based on publicly available data related to operational efficiencies, financial metrics and patient outcomes. Truven selects the 50 top hospitals out of more than 1,000 U.S. hospitals.
“We are truly honored to be among an elite group of hospitals nationwide to receive this top award from Truven,” said Dr. John R. Harvey, chief executive officer and medical director of OHH. “At OHH, it’s our mission to improve the heart health of Oklahomans and conduct research that could also improve the heart health of people around the world. To accomplish our mission, we are delivering high-quality, safe services to every patient we encounter at our two hospitals and more than 60 clinics statewide.”
This is the third time OHH has received this award from Truven.
If all cardiovascular providers in the United States performed at the level of this year's winners, Truven Health Analytics estimates that health care workers could save an additional 8,000 lives and about 3,500 more heart patients could be spared any medical complications, which together could save more than $1.3 billion.
Earlier this month, the OHH North Campus earned the 2015 Pinnacle of Excellence Award® and the OHH North and South campuses earned the 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award® from Press Ganey, which honor top-performing health care organizations nationwide for achieving high levels of excellence in patient satisfaction.
OHH also has the distinction of being the highest performing hospital in the United States for patient satisfaction based on measurements from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Oklahoma Heart Hospital (OHH) is known for focusing on the patient and family experience. Consistently recognized as a national leader in patient satisfaction, OHH also ranks in the top 1% in the nation in cardiac procedural volumes and in the top 6% in quality outcomes for cardiac surgery. As a physician-owned hospital, OHH is better empowered to connect the practices of the organization to the needs of the patient. Founded in 2002,OHH’s network is one of the largest cardiovascular programs in the United States, consisting of 2 hospitals, 70 cardiovascular specialists and 60 clinics in rural and metro locations across the great state of Oklahoma.
