Oklahoma Heart Hospital Celebrates 20 Years
Oklahoma Heart Hospital is celebrating 20 years!
We began with a team of specialists who were passionate about top-notch care, medical innovation, and excellent patient experience. We opened as the first freestanding specialty cardiovascular hospital in Oklahoma and have added another hospital location and many clinics in the years since.
OHH first opened its doors in August of 2002 with 78 beds and a vision for a new model of patient care. From the beginning, everything at OHH was designed with the goal of better care and better patient experience. Even the layout of the hospital reflected our goal of patient-centered care. The rooms were created to allow almost every service to come to the patient’s room, instead of wheeling the patient from place to place. The larger rooms also provide space for families to remain with the patient 24/7.
Oklahoma Heart Hospital is proudly physician-owned, which enables quicker decisions, a consistent focus on patient care, and an environment that truly supports our employees. Our nurse-to-patient ratios are incredibly low and our retention rates are incredibly high because of this strong attention to creating a patient-centered hospital.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in Oklahoma. OHH continues to lead the way in serving patients not only in Oklahoma, but also from across the country. We also continue to support research into innovative ways of treating and preventing cardiovascular disease of all types. Oklahoma Heart Hospital Research Foundation is now one of the largest cardiovascular research facilities in North America. It allows us to bring the newest research and trials to our patients while advancing cardiovascular research worldwide.
Seeing the need to reach uninsured and underinsured patients, we partnered with Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City in 2014 to create the Clinic for the Uninsured. We believe the best patient care should extend to patients regardless of their insurance status.
OHH is proud of our reputation for patient satisfaction. We have consistently been awarded the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award, a national recognition of facilities in the 95th percentile for patient satisfaction.
As we look toward the future, we are excited to continue serving patients with excellence and bringing the latest cardiovascular research to Oklahoma.
