An Inside Look at Oklahoma Heart Hospital Nursing
Oklahoma Heart Hospital has been committed to excellence in patient care from the beginning, and that commitment shows when we talk to our employees about their experience working here.
Patients notice the difference, too. We constantly get great feedback from our patients and their families, and we strive to provide the best cardiac care possible every day.
Our nursing staff is foundational to our approach to patient care.
People come first
Our nursing staff works seamlessly together to provide the highest quality patient care. We hire the best, and we trust them to be the best. We allow them a fair degree of autonomy as well.
“Everybody is here for you, and in turn we’re here for the patients,” said nurse Katrina.
A happy nursing staff makes for a happy hospital, and we do our best to accommodate them. Nurses set their own schedules so they have maximum flexibility and work-life balance. We also offer competitive benefits, including health benefits starting the first day of employment and tuition reimbursement for those employees pursuing further education.
That care means that our patients get the best care as well. We don’t overload our nurses—our patient loads are at a maximum of 4 to 1, with many departments being 3 to 1 or even 2 to 1. Spreading out the patient load means nurses have the time necessary to really get to know the patient and the family. This allows us to fix problems at the root and not just treat symptoms.
Every voice matters
Doctors and administrators are critical for smooth operations of every hospital, and their voices matter. Oklahoma Heart Hospital values the voice of our nurses and all other staff as well. With regular meetings that engage nurses in improving hospital operations, nurses feel like they’re a part of something bigger than themselves.
Nurses aren’t just doing the patient care work. They’re actively involved in shaping the future of cardiovascular care at one of the nation’s leading heart hospitals. That matters.
Better logistics
Nurses and patients alike appreciate the time and effort invested in making Oklahoma Heart Hospital an easy place to work. Common supplies are kept in the rooms themselves, not just in supply rooms at the end of faraway hallways. The layout of our patient rooms spreads rooms in a circle around each central nursing pod to ensure the nurses are close by when needed.
At the end of the day we’re all here for one purpose: to make sure you and your family receive the best possible care. Our nursing staff is integral to that. When you’re a patient at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, we care about you—and that flows through every single person that works here. If you’re looking for the best in patient-first care or you want to be a part of it as a nurse, contact Oklahoma Heart Hospital today.
